1. Introduction And Purpose

1.1. Overview: These Community Guidelines ("Guidelines") establish the standards of behavior, communication, and interaction expected from all Users of the PettyWorx Platform. They are designed to create a safe, respectful, and professional environment where Clients and Service Providers can connect and transact with confidence.

1.2. Incorporation by Reference: These Guidelines are incorporated into and form an integral part of the PettyWorx Terms of Service ("Terms"). Capitalized terms used but not defined in these Guidelines shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Terms.

1.3. Purpose: The purpose of these Guidelines is to:

  • Foster a respectful and inclusive community;
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and communication;
  • Protect the safety and privacy of all Users;
  • Prevent conflicts and provide a framework for resolution;
  • Maintain the integrity and reputation of the PettyWorx Platform.

1.4. Acceptance: By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Community Guidelines.

1.5. Real-Time Platform: PettyWorx operates as a real-time platform. All bookings, payments, provider responses, and communications occur instantly. Users should be aware that:

  • Bookings are confirmed immediately upon payment;
  • Service Providers receive requests in real-time and are expected to respond promptly;
  • Availability calendars must be kept up-to-date to reflect real-time capacity;
  • Cancellations take effect immediately and fees are applied automatically;
  • Communications via the Platform's messaging system are delivered in real-time.

1.6. Binding Effect: These Guidelines are binding on all Users. A breach of these Guidelines constitutes a breach of the Terms and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including account suspension or termination.

2. Who We Are And Our Commitment

2.1. Our Mission: PettyWorx is a technology platform that connects Clients with independent Service Providers for various tasks and services. We believe in creating opportunities, fostering professionalism, and building trust within our community.

2.2. Our Commitment: We are committed to:

  • Maintaining a platform free from discrimination, harassment, and harmful behavior;
  • Protecting the personal information and privacy of all Users;
  • Providing fair and transparent dispute resolution;
  • Continuously improving our platform based on User feedback;
  • Upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

2.3. Shared Responsibility: A positive community is a shared responsibility. We ask all Users to treat each other with respect, communicate professionally, and report any behavior that violates these Guidelines.

3. General Conduct Expectations

3.1. Respectful Communication

3.1.1. All communication on the Platform must be respectful, courteous, and professional.

3.1.2. Users must:

  • Communicate in a constructive and helpful manner;
  • Respect differences in opinion, background, and perspective;
  • Use appropriate language suitable for a professional environment;
  • Assume good faith in interactions with others.

3.1.3. Users must not:

  • Use offensive, abusive, or threatening language;
  • Engage in personal attacks, insults, or harassment;
  • Bully, intimidate, or humiliate other Users;
  • Send unsolicited or inappropriate messages.

3.2. No Discrimination or Hate Speech

3.2.1. PettyWorx has zero tolerance for discrimination or hate speech of any kind.

3.2.2. Users must not engage in discrimination based on: Race, ethnicity, or national origin; Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation; Religion or beliefs; Age, disability, or medical condition; Any other characteristic protected under South African law.

3.2.3. Hate speech, including content that promotes or incites hatred, violence, or prejudice against any individual or group, is strictly prohibited.

3.3. Honesty and Integrity

3.3.1. Users must provide accurate and truthful information in their profiles, listings, and communications.

3.3.2. Users must not: Misrepresent their identity, qualifications, or experience; Post false or misleading information about services or pricing; Create fake accounts or impersonate another person or entity; Engage in any fraudulent or deceptive conduct.

3.4. Compliance with Laws

3.4.1. Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to: The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA); The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA); The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

3.4.2. Discussions or content related to illegal activities are strictly prohibited.

4. Client Responsibilities And Guidelines

4.1. Service Selection and Requirements

4.1.1. Clients must accurately select the service they require from the available options on the Platform.

4.1.2. When booking a service, Clients must: Select the correct service category; Provide accurate information about the scope of work; Specify additional details or special requirements; Indicate access instructions or security codes.

4.1.3. Special Requirements: Clients must disclose any special requirements including tools needed, materials provided, access instructions, presence of pets/children, and safety hazards.

4.1.4. Clients must not select incorrect categories to manipulate pricing or knowingly provide false information.

4.1.5. Clients acknowledge price adjustments may occur if the actual scope differs materially from the selection.

4.1.7. Real-Time Booking: Once payment is complete, your booking is immediately sent to providers. No manual approval is required—it processes in real-time.

4.1.8. Price Calculation: Price displayed at checkout is calculated in real-time and is final at the moment of booking.

4.2. Communication with Service Providers

4.2.1. Clients must communicate respectfully and professionally with Service Providers at all times.

4.3. Payments and Transactions

4.3.1. All payments must be processed through the Platform. 4.3.2. Clients must not offer or request payment outside the Platform.

4.4. Feedback and Reviews

4.4.1. Clients are encouraged to provide honest feedback. 4.4.3. Threatening negative reviews to obtain discounts is strictly prohibited.

5. Service Provider Responsibilities And Guidelines

5.1. Profile and Listings

5.1.1. Maintain accurate profiles. 5.1.2. Profiles must not contain external contact information. 5.1.3. Warrant that you have the skills, qualifications, and capacity for the services offered.

5.2. Online/Offline Status and Real-Time Job Acceptance

5.2.1. Online/Offline Toggle: Availability is controlled ONLY by the in-app toggle.

  • Online: Physically available, ready to accept jobs immediately, and equipped with all necessary tools.
  • Offline: You will not receive any job requests.

5.2.4. Response Requirements: While online, you must monitor your device actively. Consistently ignoring notifications may result in lower scores or being automatically marked as offline.

5.2.6. Price Acknowledgment: Prices are final and determined by PettyWorx's dynamic pricing model. Negotiation is not permitted.

5.2.8. After Acceptance: Once you accept, acknowledge confirmation, proceed to location, and communicate via the platform.

5.2.10. Scope Discrepancies: Discuss any material discrepancies with the Client immediately and do not perform additional work without agreement processed via the platform.

5.3. Service Delivery

5.3.1. Perform services with reasonable care, skill, and diligence. 5.3.2. Adhere to agreed timelines and quality standards.

5.4. Professional Conduct

5.4.1. Maintain professional demeanour, arrive on time, dress appropriately, and respect client property.

6. Communication Standards

6.1. Platform-Only Communication

All communications related to services must occur within the Platform's messaging system. Moving conversations to external platforms (WhatsApp, etc.) to circumvent PettyWorx is strictly prohibited and leads to account suspension.

6.2. Professional Communication: Use proper grammar, be clear, and avoid excessive profanity or spam.

6.3. Confidentiality: What happens on PettyWorx stays on PettyWorx. Do not share messages publicly without permission.

6.4. Real-Time Expectations: Messaging operates in real-time. Respond promptly (within minutes or hours, not days). Keep notifications enabled on the day of service.

7. Content And Posting Guidelines

7.1. User-Generated Content: Must be accurate, truthful, and appropriate for a general audience.

7.2. Photos and Images: Users may only share content they have rights to post. Service Providers must obtain consent for portfolio images involving property or individuals.

7.3. Reviews and Ratings: Must be based on actual interactions and be constructive and fair. Fake or incentivized reviews are prohibited.

8. Prohibited Content And Activities

8.1. Prohibited Content

Users must not post content that: Is illegal; contains pornography or explicit content; promotes violence; contains hate speech; infringes IP; contains malware; or relates to drugs, weapons, or MLM schemes.

8.2. Prohibited Activities

8.2.1. Circumvention: Soliciting or contracting with a User you connected with on the Platform outside the Platform is prohibited for a period of 24 months interaction.

8.2.2. Impersonation, unauthorized access, automated scraping, interference with servers, and fraud are strictly prohibited.

9. Privacy And Data Protection

9.1.1. PettyWorx complies with POPIA. 9.2.2. Service Providers must protect Client personal information and not retain it longer than necessary. 9.2.3. Keep account credentials secure—do not share them.

10. Intellectual Property And Attribution

10.1.1. Respect others' rights. 10.2.1. Credit original sources when sharing content. 10.3.1. You own what you post, but grant PettyWorx a license to use it for platform operations.

11. Reporting Violations

11.1.1. Report inappropriate behavior via the "Report" button on profiles or email community@pettyworx.co.za. PettyWorx reviews all reports and takes appropriate action based on severity.

12. Enforcement And Consequences

12.1.1. PettyWorx reserves the right to enforce these Guidelines at our sole discretion. Enforcement is designed to be fair and proportionate.

13. Appeals Process

13.1.1. Appeal enforcement actions within 14 days by emailing appeals@pettyworx.co.za with your name, action details, and supporting evidence. Decision outcome typically within 10 business days.

14. Relationship Duration and Platform Use

14.1. The Two-Year Rule

Relationships between Clients and Service Providers that start on PettyWorx must continue on the Platform for at least two (2) years from the date of the last completed project. Taking relationships off-platform results in account termination.

14.2. Use of PettyWorx Brand: Users may not use our brand in any way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without express written permission.

15. Policy Updates

15.1. PettyWorx reserves the right to amend these Guidelines at any time. We will provide 30 days notice for material changes via email or platform notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

19. Acknowledgement

By using the PettyWorx Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Community Guidelines. You confirm respect for all Users and compliance with all applicable laws.
